The fairy tale "Cockroach" is one of the most popular and famous works of Korney Ivanovich Chukovsky.

Various animals, birds and insects lived and did not grieve in a magical land. And their whole life was like one holiday. No one ever offended the little ones, did not quarrel and did not fight.

But once an evil and terribly terrible Cockroach entered this happy country and instantly frightened all its inhabitants. All the animals huddled in their burrows and began to tremble with fear, but the Cockroach did not let up, he began to demand small children for dinner. And no one could go and drive out the evil Cockroach, even the big animals were afraid of the red mustache of the villain. And most likely this would have continued for a very long time if a kangaroo had not jumped into a magical land, which began to open everyone’s eyes that a cockroach is not at all scary, but rather small and simply nasty. The animals, of course, did not believe the kangaroo and continued to hide and are afraid. However, a simple gray sparrow flew in, and without even talking to anyone, he took and pecked at an evil and terrible cockroach.

And that sparrow became the winner and savior of the entire magical land. All the animals began to sing songs to him, treat him and rejoice at his release. This is where the fairy tale ends, and the animals of the magical land again began to have fun, sing and dance.

What does the fairy tale "Cockroach" teach
The tale teaches fearlessness, courage, selflessness. It teaches us not to be afraid of empty threats, not to obey dictators, to act boldly, together, in common. Teaches that the worst villains are actually cowardly and weak.

Review of the fairy tale "Cockroach"
I liked this tale, although I myself was ashamed of the cowardice of the animals. They were afraid of the cockroach because of its mustache, although any of them was a hundred times larger than the cockroach. And it’s really bad that the animals were ready to give their children to the cockroach. Shame on them and disgrace!

Proverbs to the fairy tale "Cockroach"
Fear has big eyes.
Fear has eyes that are bowls, but they do not see a crumb.
Cowardice takes away strength.
Where it's scary together, go there alone.
The hero is not glorious by birth, but by a feat.

Read summary, a short retelling of the fairy tale "Cockroach"
Various animals rode merrily and with laughter - bears, a cat, mosquitoes, crayfish, wolves, lions, bunnies and a toad.
Suddenly, a huge mustachioed cockroach came out of the gateway, which began to growl and scream, threatening to swallow the animals.
The animals got scared, fainted, the wolves ate each other, and the elephant sat on the hedgehog. Only crayfish wanted to fight, saying that they also have mustaches. But at the same time they backed away.
The hippopotamus offered a reward to a hero who would kill a cockroach. The animals were inspired and rushed into battle. But when they saw the mustache of a cockroach, they were again frightened and fled through the forests and fields.
The hippo tried to raise bulls and rhinos to fight, but they refused, saying that horns and skins are not cheap these days.
So the animals sat in the corners, trembling and chattering their teeth.
And the cockroach became quite insolent and began to demand that the animals bring children to him for dinner.
The animals cried and sobbed, did not want to give their children to the cockroach, but said goodbye to the kids.
Suddenly a kangaroo jumped up and began to shame the animals, calling the cockroach a goat and a bug.
The animals began to hiss at the kangaroo and chase it away.
But then a sparrow flew in from behind the forest and fields, pecked once - and there was no cockroach.
The animals rejoiced, began to praise the hero, beat the drums and dance. The elephant was so dispersed that even the moon fell from the sky, and then she had to be nailed with nails.

"Cockroach"

The bears rode
By bike.
And behind them a cat
Backwards.
And behind him mosquitoes
On the balloon.
And behind them crayfish
On a lame dog.
Wolves on a mare
Lions in the car.
Bunnies on the tram
Toad on a broom…

They go and laugh, when suddenly a terrible giant crawls out of the gateway - the Cockroach. He threatens the beasts that he will eat them. The animals are in a panic - the wolves ate each other, the crocodile swallowed the toad, and the elephant sat on the hedgehog. Only crayfish are not afraid - although they back away, they fearlessly shout to the mustachioed monster that they themselves can move their mustaches - no worse than a Cockroach. And Hippo promises to those who are not afraid of the monster and fight with him, give two frogs and welcome a fir cone. The animals have taken courage and rush in a crowd to the barbel. But when they see him, the poor fellows are so frightened that they immediately run away. The hippo calls on the animals to go and raise the Cockroach on its horns, but the animals are afraid:

All you can hear is teeth chattering
You can only see how the ears are trembling.

And so the Cockroach became the lord of the fields and forests, and all the animals obeyed him. He orders the beasts to bring him their children for dinner. All animals cry and say goodbye to their children forever, cursing the evil master. Poor mothers weep most bitterly: what kind of mother would agree to give her dear child for dinner to an insatiable scarecrow? But then one day a Kangaroo rode up. Seeing the barbel, the guest laughs:

Is it a giant?<…>
It's just a cockroach!<…>
Cockroach, cockroach, cockroach.
Liquid-legged goat-bug.

The kangaroo shames his toothy and fanged acquaintances - they obeyed the booger, the cockroach. Hippos get scared, shush at the Kangaroo, but then a Sparrow flies out of nowhere, which swallows the Cockroach. There is no giant! The whole animal family thanks and praises its deliverer. Everyone rejoices so violently and dances so dashingly that the moon, trembling in the sky, falls on the elephant and rolls into the swamp. But the moon is soon restored to its place, and peace and joy again return to the forest dwellers.

"Cockroach" by Korney Chukovsky tells the young reader about different animals that travel on a bicycle, car, balloon, tram, on top of each other, etc. Friends ride merrily and laugh together, but a terrible giant appears before them - the Cockroach and begins to threaten the animals. Animals from fear do different things, but some cause the enemy to fight. Seeing the terrible mustache of a cockroach, they again run away.

The cockroach becomes the ruler and conquers the local residents. He orders the animals to bring him small children to eat. Mothers suffer and shed tears.

Suddenly, a Kangaroo appears and makes fun of the malicious mustachioed. At the same time, he scolds his fanged friends and toothy acquaintances. How could they be afraid of such a ridiculous and miserable creature. And here comes Sparrow. He swallows the monster. Everyone is happy and thank the savior. The holiday begins. Everyone is dancing and cheering. The moon trembles from the noise and falls down right on the elephant, and then rolls into the swamp. The animals get it, and peace returns to the earth.

A wonderful story by Korney Chukovsky about how big powerful animals were afraid of a tiny cockroach. A nasty insect conquered Africa and even became its master.

Who does not know the fairy tale "Cockroach" written by grandfather Roots? Watching his children, the author noticed that the insects that were then found in every apartment terrify and disgust the kids. A recognized master of fighting childish fears, Chukovsky decided to show the comical nature of the situation in which the strong are afraid of the weak and arrogant.

Chukovsky's fairy tale "Cockroach" tells how one fine day, African animals cheerfully went about their business. Suddenly, out of nowhere, a cockroach appears. From fear, all the animals hid. And even the hippo could not inspire them to defeat the cockroach. Believing the cunning and self-confident insect, the animals agreed to give their children to be eaten. They chased away the truthful kangaroo who dared to laugh at the bug. An ordinary sparrow rescued the cowards - he saw a beetle and pecked it.

In a fairy tale “Cockroach. Chukovsky K.I.” ironic from the heart. Huge elephants, rhinoceroses, hippos and crocodiles were scared when they saw a tiny harmless cockroach. And all just because he was terribly moving his mustache. And a small modest bird dealt with him without hesitation.

Korney Chukovsky among children. 1961 Korney Chukovsky among children. 1961 / Lev Nosov / RIA Novosti

“Chukovsky The roots of the vaunted talent are 2 times longer than the telephone pole” - this is how his friend Vlad Zhabotinsky described the future author of the most popular children's poems Korney Chukovsky.

They say that the children's writer Korney Ivanovich Chukovsky did not really like celebrating birthdays, sometimes he did not even go down to the guests, although he accepted gifts with pleasure.

fatherlessness

One of the things that upset Chukovsky all his life was his origin. After all, his real name and surname is Nikolai Korneychukov. And with a patronymic generally there was a hitch. Kolya Korneichukov was the illegitimate son of a peasant woman Ekaterina Korneichukova and Emmanuil Levenson. The rich gentleman "lived" with his servant for about three years, gave birth to two children - Marusya and Kolya - and married a woman of noble birth. Although the father did not officially abandon his son and daughter, he did not give them his first and last name. Therefore, in different documents, the patronymic of Kolya Korneichukov sounded in a different way: he was both Vasilyevich, and Stepanovich, and Emmanuilovich, and Manuilovich, and even Emelyanovich.

In his Diary, Chukovsky wrote: “It seemed to me ... that I was the only one - illegal, that everyone was whispering behind my back and that when I show someone my documents, everyone internally starts to spit on me ...

When the children talked about their fathers, grandfathers, grandmothers, I only blushed, hesitated, lied, confused. In the end, in order to end the confusion, Nikolai took a different name for himself, came up with a patronymic and a new surname. By the way, according to some testimonies, Chukovsky met his father several times and even once brought him, already a very old man, to the Finnish village of Kuokkala, where he then lived with his family. True, the newly-made father did not stay away for a long time - Chukovsky flared up and literally pushed the biological dad out the door, and the children were forever forbidden to mention the name of their grandfather.

Chukovsky began to write children's poems, already being a venerable critic. He could not even imagine that simple quatrains would forever overshadow all his previous and subsequent serious works. Sometimes the writer disagreed on this matter in earnest: “... I am secretly jealous of my adult books for children. I am sure that my book about Gorky is better than "Moidodyr" and the book about Nekrasov is better than "Crocodile". But nobody believes this. "Crocodile" sold 250,000 copies, and "Nekrasova" did not sell even two thousand !!! ... I am ready to punch those mothers who, smiling slobberingly, inform me that their Tamarochka knows my "Confusion" by heart. “And you,” I ask, “do you know my book about Walt Whitman by heart?” - "About what?" - About Walt Whitman. “Do you also write for adults?” - Bastards!

erotic fly

Despite the childishness, in the works of Korney Chukovsky more than once "skillful" guardians of the Soviet regime found "forbidden elements". For example, the book "Mukhina's wedding" was banned. “Gublit (the state censorship body of that time. - Ed.) Forbade me the book“ Mukhina’s Wedding ”on the grounds that the fly in the picture is supposedly placed too close to the spider - and this can cause erotic thoughts in the child!” Chukovsky himself wrote about this stupid incident.

And Nadezhda Konstantinovna Krupskaya did not like the same "Crocodile" that "walked the streets" - she saw an "anti-Soviet element" in the alligator. Although Chukovsky, when he composed the poem, did not even think about anything like that. “My little son fell ill,” recalled Korney Ivanovich. - I was taking him home on the train and, in order to somehow calm his pain, I began to tell him under the rhythmic roar of the train: “There was a crocodile. He walked the streets ... "But the most acutely satirical work of the poet was considered" Cockroach ". And although the fairy tale was written in 1922 - when Stalin's power had not yet gained its power, the lines “The beasts submitted to the mustachioed. (May he fail, the damned one!)” sounded prophetic and topical.

By the way, in the late 1990s it became known that Chukovsky wrote to the "mustachioed prototype." In one of the Russian magazines, a letter was published where Korney Ivanovich complained to the leader of the peoples that during the war children were left without education, without the support of their parents, that they became wild, began to rob and steal, and offered to take such children who had fallen from the hands of agricultural labor. Then the writer was attacked, accused of cruelty. In fact, Chukovsky adored children, but believed that they needed to be properly educated. At his dacha in Peredelkino, he constantly arranged "creative meetings" with the children, inviting famous people for them.

Chukovsky never sympathized with the Soviet authorities, and the authorities did not welcome him very much either. Moreover, Chukovsky's daughter, Lydia, became a dissident, and her husband, the outstanding physicist Matvey Bronstein, was called an enemy of the people and shot in 1938. These were black years for the Chukovskys. The family believed that Matvey Bronstein was alive for two whole years, because they were "issued" a sentence: "10 years without the right to correspond." And so Korney Ivanovich wrote letters with a request to pardon the already shot son-in-law, but his friends - Marshak, Landau, Mandelstam, Ioffe - asked for him. But the only thing they achieved was a note: “reimburse L. K. Chukovskaya for the cost of the binoculars seized during the search on August 1, 1937” ...

According to the recollections of relatives, he always had a heightened sense of justice. Korney Ivanovich died in 1969 from viral hepatitis. And before his death, he made a list of those whom he would not want to see at his funeral ...

Khazarin Note: Prophecy about Stalin

"Is it a giant?

(Ha ha ha!)

It's just a cockroach!

(Ha ha ha!)"

Korney Chukovsky (Nikolai Emmanuilovich Levenson), author of such hilarious children's classics as Doctor Aibolit and Crocodile, wrote The Cockroach in the early 1920s. Did he mean Stalin? To some readers, the cockroach mustache is reminiscent of the Soviet dictator's famous mustache. The Russian poet Osip Mandelstam, arrested and hounded to death during Stalin's purges, spread the metaphor when he wrote in 1934:

We live, not feeling the country under us,

Our speeches are not heard for ten steps,

And where is enough for half a conversation,

They will remember the Kremlin mountaineer there.

His thick fingers, like worms, are fat,

And the words, like pood weights, are true,

Cockroaches are laughing

And his bootlegs shine.

And around him is a rabble of thin-necked leaders,

He plays with the services of demihumans.

Who whistles, who meows, who whimpers,

He alone babachet and pokes,

Like a horseshoe, he gives a decree after a decree:

Who in the groin, who in the forehead, who in the eyebrow, who in the eye.

Whatever his execution is raspberries,

And the broad chest of an Ossetian.

November, 1933

Chukovsky's prophetic insight is amazing In 1921, when Chukovsky began writing The Cockroach, Stalin was a relatively obscure Georgian thug just beginning to make his way to the top of the communist hierarchy. Only after many years will he deserve that bloody glory, which could give rise to satire. Chukovsky himself denied the presence of such hints in his tale, even at a time when their existence could already be safely recognized. The question also remains of how The Cockroach could have gotten past the Soviet censorship that kept out much more innocuous works? According to one theory, satire - if it really was present - was so harsh that to admit its existence would mean discrediting the authorities.

Stalin himself used the image of a cockroach for his own political purposes. In 1930, speaking at the Congress of the Communist Party, he attacked dissident communists. “A cockroach rustled somewhere, not having yet had time to get out properly from the hole, - and they are already shying back, horrified and starting to scream ... about the death of Soviet power,” Stalin told the congress delegates. “We calm them down and try to convince them… that it’s just a cockroach that you shouldn’t be afraid of.” Many years later, Chukovsky grumbled in his diary about "plagiarism" on Stalin's part: "He retold my whole fairy tale and did not refer to the author."

On March 9, 1956, shortly after Khrushchev's "Secret Report" at the 20th Congress, K. Chukovsky made the following entry in his diary: others, Kazakevich said:

And "Cockroach"?! It is entirely dedicated to Stalin.

Vadim Kozhinov recalled a funny incident from his youth, which came just in the years of the Khrushchev “thaw”. “At that time, hiding the irony, I unsuccessfully assured other ingenuous interlocutors that 1937 was excellently depicted in Korney Chukovsky's popular poetic tale “The Cockroach”. At first, a joyful picture of the “achievements of the first five-year plans” is drawn there: “Bears rode on a bicycle ... Bunnies - in a tram, a toad - on a broomstick ... They ride and laugh, they chew gingerbread, etc. But, alas, 1937 is coming: “Suddenly from the gateway - a terrible giant, red-haired (here I reported that Iosif Vissarionovich was reddish before he turned gray) and a mustachioed ta-ra-kan. He rumbles and growls and moves his mustache: “Bring your children to me, I eat them at dinner today” ... The animals trembled - they fainted. The wolves ate each other out of fright (what an accurate picture of 1937! - I commented), and the elephant, trembling all over, sat on a hedgehog, ”of course, on the famous people's commissar with a“ successful ”surname!

At the same time, I, of course, kept silent about the fact that the fairy tale “Cockroach” was published not in 1938, but back in 1923, and many of those to whom I read the lines just quoted admired both the accuracy and the rare boldness of the work. Chukovsky ... And in the end, it was precisely this “interpretation” of 1937 that was presented in the writings about Stalin written by the son of Antonov-Ovseenko, or by the high-ranking army party apparatchik Volkogonov, or the writer Radzinsky, - writings that to this day are carried away by wide circles of people who do not give realize that the basis of the “methodology” of these authors is, as it were, the same “model” that formed the basis of the “Cockroach” that fascinated them in their childhood…”.

Every word in the poem is prophetic! Don't forget - written in 1921, published in 1923!

The bears rode

By bike.- The bears in the circus ride bicycles. Well - "Life has become better - life has become more fun," - Stalin said these words in 1935 - people began to go to the circus, watch comedies (such as Merry Fellows, Volga-Volga)

And behind them a cat

Backwards. - a clear hint of opposition

And behind him mosquitoes

On a balloon. - balloons began to conquer the stratosphere

And behind them crayfish

On a lame dog.- The "old specialists" repainted in red, who had eaten the dog, also aspired to a brighter future. They didn't have long!

Wolves on a mare.- petty party workers.

Lions in the car.- big party bosses

Bunnies

In a tram.- simple folks.

Toad on a broom... It would be more correct - "by metro" - just in 1935 the Moscow Metro was opened.
