Proper use of Death from Above with the Blackfathom Shadows talent

Welcome to the Rogue Guide, the Outlaw specialization in the World of Warcraft Legion universe, which will allow you to get the most out of your character in PvP mode, for example, in Arenas or in ranked battles. We offer an alternative interpretation of the standard class guides, all of our recommendations are based on pure statistics and data personally obtained in simulated situations on the official Battle.net WoW API resource. The experience of the best representatives of the class is also analyzed, so our guides are a reflection of the most successful and competitive PVP in the Legion. And work is constantly being carried out to maintain up-to-date information.

The material was compiled according to the rating tables of characters of level 100 and above. When there are more than 110 level players in the PVP lists, the data will be updated. PVP Build - Honor Talents

First you need to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the character and your role in the battle, to know who you are fighting against, only this will help you choose the right combination. It is worth learning how to change talents before a fight, depending on the situation.

World of Warcraft test servers have been updated to Patch 7.2.5. And Blizzard rolled out impressive (albeit preliminary) patches with class changes. Hold on! Maybe not all of them will live to see the release ... or maybe all of them =)

But first, a couple of models. First, this is the titanium model:

And secondly, the updated firefly model:

Whether in the light of day or not, the auction houses of Orgrimmar and Stormwind have been adorned with a wide variety of decorations. Here are screenshots:

And here are the decorations themselves:

A lot of items have also been added, for example, the canon weapon from the Black Temple has been re-added (which is probably related), as well as the Arsenal: War Glaives of Azzinoth - an item that adds models of the legendary Illidan Glaives to the Demon Hunter collection! And also:

  • Symbol for angel wings for priests;

In anticipation of the Legion, the Stealth specialization has been revamped with new strengths and weaknesses. Rogues with this specialization still do high damage to one target, and their AoE has become more competitive. Its rotation implies a constant change of states (entering and exiting Stealth). Some abilities can be used at any time, some can only be used in Stealth. There are several ways to enter the Stealth state in battle, but their number is strictly limited, therefore, to play effectively, you need to carefully plan your actions.

List of changes in the guide (04/10/17):

  • Talents: Minor changes to the description of the Master of Stealth and Master of Combat.
  • A short guide: Changed the default talent selection guidelines.
  • Rotation: Changed recommendations for using Shadow Dance as part of a rotation for one target.
  • Artifact: Changed the order of Shadows of Soul and Bite of Fortune in the priority list for talent selection.
  • Introduction: Added additional information to the Advantages and Disadvantages sections, Viability in the current patch.
  • Enchantments, Food, and Consumables: Added a mention of the feast.
  • Introduction: Added changes in patch 7.2
  • Artifact: Added an artifact development path for patch 7.2.

The Stealth Rogue Guide is current for World of Warcraft Legion 7.2. Below you will find everything you need to know to effectively progress through raids and dungeons in Advanced Mythic difficulty.

    • Shadow Engraving increases the damage done by Symbols of Death.

  • The poisons have been removed.
  • The specialization is now more suitable for dealing AoE damage.
  • Many symbols have disappeared from the game.
  • Changes have also been made to the talent tree, they include new active and passive abilities.

2. Advantages and Disadvantages

Advantages:

  • Strong damage to one target
  • High damage against two or three targets
  • Good peak damage
  • Good permanent AoE damage
  • Scales well
  • Strong ability to control and defend
  • High mobility

Flaws:

  • Highly dependent on cooldowns
  • Effective damage dealt requires the proper use of combo points
  • Shadowstrike sometimes acts unpredictably and teleports to unexpected places
  • Sprint is not used to speed up, but to increase outgoing damage (thanks to Shimmering Shadows)

3. Viability in the current patch

In terms of raids, Stealth is slightly inferior to Assassination, but it can be used in Normal and Heroic modes. However, it should be noted that Stealth is more balanced than Assassinate and Outlaw and allows for more predictable damage output. Members of the Subtlety specialization have to carefully monitor their location, as they cannot use Sprint to accelerate, and the Shadowstrike sometimes moves them into dangerous zones.

4. Brief guide

This section is intended for those who are just starting out as a Rogue, are not aiming at raids in Mythic difficulty, or are simply trying to simplify their playstyle as much as possible, not wanting to constantly remember priorities and monitor various effects.

The basics

Stealth is a pretty tricky specialization. To play successfully, it requires a deep knowledge of mechanics and the ability to predict events. However, any complexity can be simplified to an acceptable level. In this section, we will look at a simplified build with a minimum number of abilities that does not require quick reactions, but still allows you to deal decent damage.

Choosing talent

The choice of talents in this build is dictated by their ease of use. Of course, the most experienced players can get the most out of some of the other talents, but for newbies, choosing the more complex options often results in a drop in performance. In other words, the talents in question allow you to make mistakes from time to time:

  • Level 15: Master of Stealth
  • Level 30: Dodge
  • Level 45: Premonition
  • Level 60: Cheating Death
  • Level 75: Shadow Strike
  • Level 90: Intent
  • Level 100: Master of Shadows

Specifications

The current secondary stat priority for the Subtlety specialization is:

  1. Mastery:
  2. Versatility
  3. Critical hit
  4. Speed

Basic rotation

  1. Maintain the Symbols of Death buff.
  2. Use Backstab to generate combo points.
  3. If there are two or more targets, use Shuriken Flurry to generate combo points.
  4. Apply Nightblade to all available targets with 5 or more combo points.
  5. Use Eviscerate
  6. Use Shadow Dance with enough energy. Use Shadowstrike from Stealth to generate combo points. After collecting 5 or more points, spend them as usual.
  7. Use Shadow Blades if available.
  8. Use Bloodmaw Bite if available.

5. Abilities of SD Rogi

This section is intended for those who have just started to master the specialization. In it, we'll take a look at all of the abilities available and talk about how they interact with important cooldowns. If you have been familiar with it for a long time and feel comfortable in battle, you can move on to reading other sections.

5.1. Key Resources

Energy is the primary resource for Stealth Rogues. Energy is replenished passively, the rate of replenishment is increased due to the rate of speed, active and passive abilities, as well as talents.

Combo Points are another primary resource for Subtlety Rogues. Some abilities generate combo points, some (finishing moves) consume them, and the amount of damage they do depends on the number of points spent.

6. Talents of SD Rogi in the Legion

Talents can be freely changed outside of combat, while in a recreation area (for example, in a tavern or the capital). Tome of Tranquil Mind and Codex of Tranquil Mind provide temporary effects that allow players to swap talents out of combat regardless of where they are.

Before optimizing talents, you need to create a base build that matches your goal. We suggest you use the options below.

Raid

Starting option for passing raids.

  • Level 15: Master of Stealth
  • Level 30: Dodge

    • If you have the Intent talent, use Shadow Dance if you have 1 combo point (3 combo points without Intent, and 6-7 combo points with Premonition).

For more information on starting combat rotation, read the appropriate section.

9. Important notes

9.1. Combo points and energy

Most of the rogue's offensive abilities are energy-intensive. The maximum energy reserve is 100 units, the replenishment rate is 10 units. per second. With the Talent Talent, the maximum energy reserve is 150 pts. The replenishment rate is increased due to:

  • melee speed indicator (from equipment and buffs);
  • passive ability Unrelenting Strikes, which grants a 20% chance to restore 40 health. energy with the help of finishing techniques;
  • Tirelessness, talent tier 7.

The faster you replenish energy, the smoother your rotation will be. you will have to spend less time on the process of accumulating the resource. Faster generation allows you to use finishing moves more often and more effectively deal damage during Shadow Dance.

You should not accumulate maximum energy. This reduces outgoing damage as all the extra energy is wasted.

You should also not accumulate maximum combo points, because this leads to the loss of the Shadow Technique effect. If this does happen, try to spend points during one global cooldown.

9.1.1. Accumulation of resources

During the battle, the value of energy and combo points changes. For example, under the influence of Shadow Dance, the energy value is very high, because this buff lasts only 3 seconds. (5 seconds with the Dodge talent). If you don't have enough energy, you will not be able to use Shadowstrike enough times or update Symbols of Death in time. That is why it is recommended to use Shadow Dance in those moments when your energy reserve is 100 or more units. Remember that if you have the Master of Shadows talent, using Shadow Dance instantly restores 30 health. energy. The process of accumulating energy means that you do not use abilities and attack the boss automatically.

Combo points are more valuable in those moments when the target takes increased damage, because they allow for powerful finishing moves. As you play the Stealth Specialization, you will often put these principles into practice.

9.2. Dance of shadows

To update the Symbols of Death, you will have to every 35 sec. use Shadow Dance or Vanish. Before each Shadow Dance, you need to accumulate at least 100 points. energy, because the duration of this beneficial effect is strictly limited. Since the Symbols of Death do not trigger a global cooldown, it is necessary to squeeze them simultaneously with the first Shadowstrike. In total, such a technique will cost 75 units. energy.

During Shadow Dance, the Shuriken Flurry deals 200% more damage, but in most cases the Dance is used to deal damage to a single target. If you need to quickly eliminate several small opponents at once (for example, on Mannoroth), enter the Shadow Dance without combo points so that the points generated by the Shuriken Flurry are not wasted.

9.2.1. Gaining Combo Points during Shadow Dance

10.2. Using cooldowns

10.2.1. Personal initiative

In the matter of inflicting maximum damage, personal experience and the ability to feel the situation play a huge role. The need to use Shadow Dance to inflict AoE damage with Shuriken Flurry instead of the Shadowstrike series cannot be explained in words, it must be understood on your own. Try to think of your cooldowns collectively, not individually. together they are much more beneficial. For example, Nightblade lasts only 18 seconds, so if the Death from Above cooldown is about to end, you need to upgrade the Nightblade a little earlier than usual in order to accumulate combo points and use Death from Above as soon as it becomes available. The same goes for the Shadow Dance cooldown.

11. Effective start

Always start combat in Stealth.

  1. 13.5 sec. before the start of the fight, use the Symbols of Death.
  2. 3.5 sec. before the start of the fight, use the Symbols of Death.
  3. Drink the Potion of the Ancient War just before the start of the fight.
  4. Use Shadow Strike 3 times in a row.
  5. Use the Nightblade on the main target.
  6. Activate Shadow Dance, accessories and racial abilities.
  7. Use Shadowstrike.
  8. Use Shadowstrike.
  9. Use the finishing move (Eviscerate against one target, Nightblade against multiple targets).
  10. Use Shadow Blades.
  11. Use Shadowstrike.
  12. Use Shadowstrike.
  13. Use Fade.
  14. Use Shadowstrike.
  15. Use Shadowstrike.
  16. Use a finishing trick.
  17. Use Shadowstrike.
  18. Use Shadow Dance.
  19. Use Shadowstrike.
  20. Use Shadowstrike.
  21. Use a finishing trick.
  22. Use Shadowstrike.
  23. Return to normal rotation.

In addition, you can use the Legion Rune: Corrupted Augment Rune. It should be noted that this rune now works in Extended Mythic dungeons.

16. Addons

16.1. ElvUI

21. Legendary items

The best legendary combo currently available is Mantle of the Master Assassin + Shadow Satyr's Walk.

Shadow Satyr's Walk is the best Legendary item for the Subtlety. It allows you to more efficiently manage resources and gives a tangible increase in outgoing damage.
