Obtaining Dark Sorrow (Shadowmourne). Acquiring Darkmourne Id of Darkmourne

Mograine still doubts us. He does not want to give weapons to a man who only wants power and glory. To once again make sure of your loyalty, he issues another task - a Feast of Souls.

The essence of the quest boils down to the fact that you need to kill monsters in the Icecrown Citadel raid. This time, the difficulty does not matter - the task is performed both in the version for 10 and in the version for 25 people. Once you hit a monster from the pack (in this case, you must be armed with [Edge of Darkness]), a debuff is applied to all of them - Lot of Darkness. As soon as the next monster dies (and you don't have to strike the last blow), a purple ray of the soul flies out of its body, increasing the soul counter in the task by one. In this case, you are inevitably pursued by the voice of the Lich King.

This quest also has a few subtleties. Firstly, before, absolutely all mobs in Icecrown Citadel were counted for the task. Including critters, and minor adds, and even thorns on Lord Rebrad. Since then, a lot of time has passed and a lot has been fixed.

At the moment, the following are included in the task:

  • Monsters that have a reputation with the Ash Pact.
  • Adda Lady Deathwhisper.
  • Rotface's large slugs.
  • Slugs of Professor Putricide.
  • Trap ghouls in front of Professor Putricide.
  • Addy on Valithria Dreamwalker.
Not counted:
  • Monsters without reputation or monsters without loot.
  • Thorns at Lord Ribrad.
  • Zombie Charms.
  • Saurfang's bloody monsters.
  • Any monsters in Air Combat.
  • The player's illusions summoned by the Val "kirami in the center of the Spire.
If you farm trash in front of the first boss, you will get ~ 50 souls for one run. It is much more effective to farm Valitria the Dreamwalker - all her guards are counted, even small worms that appear from the corpses of abominations. If you don't focus on farming, but just go through Icecrown Citadel, the task will be completed by itself in about 2 weeks.

The Strength of Unholy is the first of three quests that aim to imbue your weapons with the three powers of Death Knights. The first of three quests that will make your raid sweat.

To complete the task, you will have to climb into the skin of the Mutated Abomination in a battle with Professor Putricide. Read more about the strategy for killing this boss in the article. This and the two quests that follow it can only be done in the 25-player version.

A distinctive feature of the battle here is that the Abomination that slows down the slugs will have to miss one slowdown in order to have time to accumulate the required amount of energy (100 units). A person with [Edge of Darkness] will have an additional button on the abomination's control panel - the Protection of Shadows ability. Its use gives the player a buff that allows him to absorb the soul of Professor Putricide. The buff does not last the whole fight (~ 8-10 minutes), but only 6 minutes. Therefore, to successfully complete the quest, you need to use the spell in the second half of the battle - towards the end of the second phase. You must also stay alive, otherwise the task will not be counted.

Priests and druids will help you gain energy thanks to their talents - Encouragement and Ascension. Both work wonderfully for abomination.

The second stage is to endow the ax with the Power of Blood. For this purpose, we need to kill.

In this fight, the [Darkmourne] aspirant must receive the Blood Mirror debuff at the start of the fight. The debuff is hung on OT, therefore you must warn him and your Raid Leader in advance that you need to run to the boss at the beginning of the battle with the main tank. You must be generously treated. Having received the coveted debuff, we return to the starting position in the raid.

Next, you need to taste the blood of your allies three times. Therefore, it is very important that the first person with the Essence of the Blood Queen bites you. Every 60 seconds, you tactically bite a free raid member. After each bite, another debuff is added to you - Bleeding Wound. When you take your third bite, the debuffs will be gone and replaced by Suppressed Thirst. It remains only to finish off the boss, while remaining alive.

Helpful hints:

  • Ask the healers to throw protection at you at the beginning of the battle, when you are under the influence of the mirror.
  • In no case (!!!) do not use a bubble (paladin) or an anti-magic shield (dk) - this will remove the debuffs you need and the quest will not be counted.

The power of ice. For a moment, it seems that Highlord Darion Mograine pity Sindragosa, but to complete the final stage of consecration of [Edge of Darkness] she will have to be done away with, as well as Professor Mesocides and the Blood Queen.

In this quest, you will need to survive the Dragon Queen's Ice Breath four times. Breath inflicts about 50,000 damage. damage from ice magic. If you are not a tank, there is only one way to survive - to put on a set of armor for frost-resist. Do you remember? Once this was crafted throughout the raid to kill Sapphiron in Naxxrammas. It will not be superfluous to put on part of the tank uniform as well.

The fight with the dragon begins, she lands. Your task is to stand next to the tank, so that you have the dragon's breath. Sindragosa breathes approximately once every 20 seconds. Each breath slows you down by 15%. The Edge of Darkness absorbs every breath, filling with the forces of ice. When you reach 4 charges, your weapon is Ice-Forged. We finish what we started - we finish the boss. The fight with Sindragosa is long enough, so if you are not sure about the DPS of your raid, you should time it so that there are less than 6 minutes left until the end of the fight when you receive the Ice Forged Blade debuff, otherwise it will fall off and the task will not be counted.

The whole difficulty will lie in your survival. Get yourself a separate healer or run away from the boss in between breaths under 50 [Dark Ice Shards] should be accumulated and brought to Highlord Darion Mograine at the entrance to Icecrown Citadel. Shards drop from bosses in the 25-man version. The drop rate is 20-50% in normal difficulty and 50-99% in heroic. It is easy to calculate that with incredible luck (each of the 12 bosses will give away one shard), you will need more than a month to collect. The chances in the Heroic version increase, but this is still not 100% and [Shadow Ice Shard] may not drop even there.

The task is very similar to collecting another legendary - [Val "anir, the hammer of ancient kings], with only one amendment that there are fewer bosses in the Central Lodge, and the number of required fragments is twice as large.

And here it is - a solemn and quivering moment. You have 50 shards in your backpack, and with your hands trembling with excitement, you pass this treasure to the death knight, who has tested your will, endurance and patience for so long ...
... In his hands you see an ax of indescribable beauty, emitting a light blue light. You can feel the power coming from this weapon. And you already know why it passes into your hands. Now you and only you are able to stop the Lich King!

We sincerely hope you can get your hands on this weapon!

« In an attempt to overthrow the Lich King, brave heroes will have to repeat the path of Arthas in many ways. To adequately arm the troops of the inhabitants of Azeroth against the Scourge, Darion Mograine created the Ashen Alliance - an artel of the most skilled artisans of the Argent Crusade and the Knights of the Ebon Blade. But although the brave paladins of the Vanguard are armed with the power of the Light, and their leader possesses the legendary Ashbringer, some of Mograine's dark warriors began to doubt their victory. These Death Knights claim that the Ashbringer and the courage of the Argent Crusaders will not be enough to resist Frostmourne. They swear that Darion Mograine has long pinned their hopes on another legendary weapon that can defeat the Lich King and cleanse Northrend ... just not yet forged».

These are the words that begin with the story of Dark Sorrow on the official World of Warcraft website. Since the moment this page was opened, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge: the origin of the legendary ax has long been known to everyone, Icecrown Citadel has more than once been freed from the forces of the Scourge and the Lich King in the body of Arthas, and the most persistent heroes have even been able to collect it is a weapon with a beautiful name - Dark Sorrow ...

« ... a huge two-handed ax worthy of a giant's hand. Spawned by the forces of light and filth, it has become the home of a thousand dead souls, and can only be wielded by the most powerful warriors of Azeroth. It seems that it is impossible to create a weapon like this ax, but rumors about it continue. Some blacksmiths argue that Darkmourne can be made from an ordinary ax, sharpening its blade to an incomparable sharpness, while others believe that it requires a weapon of incredible power to create it. It is argued that Mograine, having spoken, admits that, in his opinion, only Arthas's hammer can serve as the basis for the Dark Sorrow - but this incredible find will be only the first step towards creating a great ax.

“To keep the forces dancing on its icy blades, Darkmourne must be forged from shards of raw saronite, the frozen blood of the ancient god Yogg-Saron. This material will obey the hammer of only the most skillful craftsmen.

To maintain its murderous power, it is necessary to infuse Dark Sorrow with the souls of the most powerful servants of the Scourge, destroying them one by one with the still uncooled blade.

For the ax to pierce the Lich King's armor, Darkmourne must be adorned with the shard of the Frozen Throne, which Keel once created by the "Jaeden from the ice of the Twisting Nether."

While this ax in the hands of real heroes destroys the forces of the Scourge again and again, I want to talk about how each of us (if, of course, is a warrior, paladin or death knight) can independently assemble this weapon by completing a difficult chain of quests.

I'll tell you more about each task:

Upon receiving the mirror, the debuff Bleeding Wound appears on you. After that, the Bloody Mirror must take over the off-tank. Next, the player who was bitten by Lana "tel must bite you, that is, you must be the second vampire in the raid. After that, your goal is to bite three players in the raid - the bleeding wound will continue to stack. After the third player bites, this debuff will disappear and appear buff Quenched thirst. In the future, all that remains is to finish off the Blood Queen and stay alive myself.

Shards drop from bosses in Icecrown Citadel only in 25-man raid mode. The drop chance in the normal version and the heroic version is different, in the heroic it is, of course, higher.

Players on our server often ask the question: "How to get Dark Sorrow and where should I start?"
In this regard, I decided to write a small guide with recommendations for the entire quest line from 0 to CMM.

First quest- Holiness and Filth
We are saving ~ 70,000 gold for the purchase of 25pcs Ancient saronite.
Loot 2 blood from Rotfrog and Rotface (25 player mode only) Blood Corrosive Rotfrog and Corrosive Rotface.
We get Vengeance of the Light (located in the Dragonblight at coordinates 74.24).
Important: this quest will be available after leveling reputation with the Ash Alliance to friendliness, taken in the Central Logistics Center.
Second quest- Edge of Darkness
We reforge the hammer at the forge, which is next to Morgrain, after which we turn in the quest itself and get the Edge of Darkness
Third quest- Feast of Souls
We just put our hatchet on the character and go to the tslk to kill trash (counted in both 10 and 25 difficulty modes), to complete the quest, you need to kill exactly 1000 mobs.
The fourth quest- The Power of Unholy
We put on the Edge of Darkness in our hands, sit in the "aboma", drink a puddle with the button 1 to 100% of the power of unholy (100 green energy), after which the Infusion of Darkness key appears and use it on the slug. Then we just kill the boss, the main thing is not to die
Important: no matter what one of the members of the raid group has a face on, it is highly undesirable to hit the flasks with an "abom". the quest is done only in 25 player mode.
Fifth quest- Strength of Blood
We put on the Edge of Darkness again, get the Blood Mirror buff, catch Lanatele's bite, bite 3 times and get the Suppressed Thirst buff, then kill the boss.
Tips: if you are a paladin do not use the bubble, put on a tank mshot, but do not remove the edge, ask the hpals for a particle of light. Also, at the beginning of the battle, I advise you to run with the main tank to get a mirror, at this moment the whole raid does not damage the boss so that only you get the bite (although it is possible to get the second bite, in which case the dps may have to be stopped). The quest is only done in 25 player mode.
Sixth quest- The power of ice
We dress the Edge of Darkness on the character, and stand under the breath of Sindragosa along with the tank. Get 4 stacks of the Ice Power buff and kill the boss.
Important: the presence of tank spec + tank gear, so the obligatory presence of armor for frost resist (see p.s) Do not use the bubble (if you are a paladin), do not give a freed, keep a particle of light on you. The quest is only done in 25 player mode.
Seventh quest- The Shattered Throne
To complete, you need to collect only 50 pieces of Shard of Ice of Darkness. Drops only in 25-player mode. Normal difficulty ~ 3-5 shards, heroic ~ 5-7 shards.
Eighth quest- Dark sorrow...
Actually we get the saber itself
