Do-it-yourself plywood key holder. How to make a housekeeper with your own hands. Do-it-yourself housekeeper: master class and useful recommendations

How long have you been looking for your keys? It doesn't matter when: in the morning, hurrying to work, or in the evening, going for a walk. The question is that in the ranking of the most frequently lost items, keys are in the first place (sharing it with the TV remote control). This problem constantly steals precious time and nerves from you.

What to do about it? Naturally, have a separate storage space.

Everything has its place

Just putting the keys in one place is corny. Moreover, key holders have existed for a long time - original and convenient way storage. They are of two types: pocket and wall.

Do not rush to run to the store and buy yourself a housekeeper, because you can make it yourself!

Types of key holders for walls

When choosing a storage location, the main attention should be paid to the shape and size of the keys. It is these parameters that will be the main ones in the manufacture.

How to make a key holder in the form of a wall lining? Most often, they use boards that can be easily placed in absolutely any corner, while taking up little space. If compactness is the main criterion for you, then you can use small shelves.

There is no need for a lot of materials and money, it is enough to find a sheet of plywood or timber. In this case, in addition to the keys, it will be possible to place a few more items on the shelf.

Now it is very popular to structure everything: from the workplace to the work schedule. This approach can be transferred to the home environment as well.

Place the board on which the keys will be figuratively marked. The solution is perfect for those who have a large number of keys. It will immediately be clearly visible which elements are missing.

We should also mention the key holders, access to which must be limited - a mini-safe. The structure will look like a lockable cabinet (on the network you can find a huge number of different photos of hand-made key holders), and should be placed in a secret place.

For those who constantly improve their home and keep it in their own style, you can make a locker in the form of a house or decorate it additional elements... This will allow not only to do decorative element, but also surprise everyone with your imagination.

How to make a wall key holder with your own hands?

Moving on to the fun part. Buying furniture is nice, but doing something with your own hands is beyond competition. Let's start with the easiest and cheapest way.

We'll need a box. The more original it is, the more effective the wall key holder will be. We attach elements to the back wall to fix the structure on the wall. It is enough to place the hinges, which will be convenient to hang on the self-tapping screws.

For light keys you can use cardboard box, but look for wood or crate for reliability. In the second case, you need to cover the wooden housekeeper with a moisture-resistant composition, so it will last longer.

Plywood - universal material that can be used almost anywhere. If you have leftovers or pieces, then using a special tool, you can create a unique piece of art.

What do I need to do? Everything is very simple:

  • draw the desired pattern on a sheet of plywood;
  • find a manual jigsaw in your "bins";
  • carefully cut out the elements (if you have slightly damaged the surface, use an electric wood burner);
  • fasten all the elements and enjoy the result!

Ideas for decorative housekeepers

Let's reveal a few more secrets of making a decorative masterpiece.

Using dry twigs will add a unique touch to your creation. It is enough to place them on a wooden board. You should not choose thin branches, because under the weight of the key they can break. Be sure to process the wood!

For decoration, you can use previously dried mushrooms - boletus, for example. They are highly durable and can "please the eye" of the owner for a long time. To complete the decoration, it is enough to bend the fork in the desired direction.

This is just the beginning of the journey! Having gained experience, you will be able to embody all your fantasies and completely decorate your room with masterpieces.

Registration of key holders

If at heart you are more an artist than a sculptor, then it doesn't matter! Stock up on acrylics and fantasy. After all, you can make a work of art from any box or board.

This approach will work for anyone, as you don't need to have special cutting tools or skills. It is enough to start drawing.

"A DIY gift is the most valuable." This phrase has been with us since kindergarten... If then we made crafts from leaves and chestnuts, then why not apply these skills now?

After all, a housekeeper with her own hands will become a valuable item not only at home, but also great gift family or friends. By doing something ourselves, we put our soul into it. Anyone will appreciate this approach.

Do-it-yourself photo of a housekeeper

Key holders are wall and pocket. Pocket covers are made of leather, fabric. There are key hooks inside the case. This type of key holders is more conducive to the convenience of carrying keys in a bag, teaches them to be neat and organized (keys in a case are inconvenient to carry in pockets).

Key holders that hang on the walls are open and closed designs. Closed key holders are not very convenient if they have to be used often (the doors of the structure will have to be constantly opened and closed).

Open key holder design

The shape of the key holder largely depends on the place where the key holder will be nailed. Perhaps it will be long and narrow, or in the shape of a square or a circle. For the first time, you can come up with a sketch of a simple model and feel free to get to work.

Wood planks are a favorite material at work

Wood planks are the most favorite material for crafts. First, they are easy to find. Secondly, planks of any length and thickness will do. Thirdly, the boards can be folded into any shape, connected in any sequence to each other. The fact that the tree is easy to handle will also be an important argument. For example, using sandpaper, you can sand the surface to a smooth state. You can cover the surface of the tree with paint, varnish, stain. It will be completely different every time appearance wooden surface. But still, the basis of the key holder will be in a strict classic style.

If you want to enhance the wood pattern, then you need to break it with a metal brush flat surface plaques. After that, varnish, paint, stain is applied. Again, the pattern will be different each time, but the soft spots after coating become darker and this is how the wood pattern appears on the surface.

On processed wooden surface after it is completely dry, hooks are nailed. You can use the same hooks, but different in color, or shape, or the material of manufacture, the hooks will give your housekeeper a certain uniqueness.

Plywood is easier to work with

Using plywood will shorten the work time. The main task is to come up with an interesting figure for the housekeeper. You can cut a large key, a dachshund, a mouse, a sleeping cat. The surface of plywood, unlike wood, does not require processing. All you need to do is sand the cut points (the edges of the plywood). To make them smooth, they are covered with paint. The last step is to attach the hooks in a strict or random order.

An original way to use picture frames

An unusual housekeeper can be made using a picture frame. Hooks can be attached to the frame itself to the top bar from the back. It is also recommended to attach the base with chipboard on the back with staples. It can be decorated with wallpaper or small multi-colored mosaics, painted with paint or just glued on a picture. Hooks can then be attached to this base.

Key holder made of wood and without hooks

It will be unusual to see a housekeeper without hooks. Wood is used for its manufacture. The trick is that the keys are not hung, but inserted into the slot. It is not difficult to make such a gap in a wooden base. You can cut the gap exactly along a horizontal line, or you can do it with a slope of an acute angle to the wall. This requires milling machine or circular saw... You can neatly achieve a good result with an ordinary saw. The cracks made must be carefully processed.

Key holder in youth decoration

If you have non-working panels of any devices, then they can be used to design an unusual avant-garde key holder. It is important that the panel has jacks for the plugs. A neatly cut panel from the device is screwed to the wall. The key is connected to the ring, a plug is attached to the ring, which can be inserted into the socket of the new key holder. So the key will be attached to its new place with the help of its unusual keychain-plug.

An interesting key holder will be in the form of a neck from any string instrument, for example, a guitar. If it is inconvenient to hang the keys on the neck pegs, you can additionally attach hooks.

Unusual options for housekeeper models

Nobody says that creating housekeepers is necessarily a long and painful process. You can take a non-standard approach to this issue. Then the housekeeper will be ready in 5 minutes.

  1. The connectors will act as a key holder, and the plugs will act as key fobs on the keys. The new key holder-connector is screwed to the wall at the selected place in the blank. By inserting the plugs into the sockets, the keys are hung in place. The work will take 20 minutes.
  2. Hooks are hung on a straight stick from an aluminum wire. The stick can be dyed or wrapped with multi-colored woolen thread. A rope is tied at both ends of the stick. The original housekeeper is hung on it, nailing a nail or a hook into the wall.
  3. A housekeeper is made quickly and in an original way from wine bottle corks. Wine corks are connected to each other with glue. Wait until it is completely dry. You need to purchase screw hooks on sale. Such a screw is screwed into the cork surface together with the hook. Minimum costs and original design housekeepers.

The required number of hooks, the size of the structure depends on your wishes and, to a greater extent, on the number of household members. If the family is large, you need to take care that the model is durable. It is recommended to hang the housekeeper at eye level of the younger family member (not counting, of course, a tiny baby). You need to decorate the housekeeper so that it harmoniously fits into the interior of the corridor. Invite the children to develop a model for a housekeeper, let them show their creativity.

Wall key holders fit perfectly into the hallway - plus you don't have to look for keys throughout the house. This is the main plus of any housekeeper: time saving. In a couple of weeks, you will develop a habit in the evening, when you come home from work, to hang the key on it, and in the morning, when leaving for work, take it off. As a result, you no longer need to search the apartment in search of missing keys, and you also always know which of your relatives is at home - just look at the key keeper and see if all the keys are in place.

The practical side isn't the only advantage. There is also aesthetics, because you can arrange a housekeeper in any style. Do you have an eco-friendly hallway? Nothing fits better than a tree branch housekeeper. High tech ? A small stylish metal housekeeper will suit him. Provence? Decoupage with flowers or birds. Classic? Wooden lacquered board of a strict form.

In any home store, you can find something that suits you personally. But there is another approach: to make a housekeeper with your own hands.

It has advantages:

  • Originality... A hand-made thing will always differ from a similar one, but produced on a conveyor belt. Processing features inherent in each master, interesting design solutions - even making a housekeeper according to the instructions, you will know for sure that no one has the same.
  • Diversity... At home, even without experience, you can make more than a dozen different housekeepers. From a wooden saw cut, from a box, from a wire, from a branch, even from forks - there is always material, you just need a little patience to handle it carefully.
  • Harmony... A purchased housekeeper may be perfect for your hallway, but you need to find it first. Made by their own hands fit like a dear one - after all, you will work on it, having come up with a design and knowing how it will fit.
  • Interesting experience... Doing something with your own hands is not only useful - it's also fun. If you have kids, you can team up with them to make simple housekeeping an adventure. And if there are no children, you can just enjoy the process.

Homemade housekeepers are different - from different materials, different designs. Before getting to work, you need to figure out which one you need.

What are the housekeepers?

There are two ways to classify key holders.

The first is by design:

  • Open... These are usually made by hand, since they are easier to perform. They are any hooks on which you can hang keys driven into anything. A board with nails? Open. A branch with knots? Open. Leather cut with pockets? Open.
  • Closed... These are more difficult to make - it will take some carpentry skills. They represent a cabinet that is closed by a door. The door will have to be hinged, otherwise it will quickly fall off. They allow you to hide what exactly is inside, protect the keys from prying eyes. Shelves can be built into them for useful little things, hang a mirror on the door and expand the practical application in a different way.

The second method is based on the materials that were used.

Wine bottle corks can be considered a kind of wood - they can also be used to make a beautiful housekeeper. But it will not work out of paper - it will wear out too quickly. It will also not come out of glass or stone - it is difficult to find material, it is even more difficult to process.

Advice

When choosing a material, be guided by three indicators: what will be easiest for you to work with, what will best fit into your hallway, and what you will definitely be able to get. Having decided - proceed.

How to do it yourself?

Before starting work, it remains to remember the basic rules that all masters follow:

  • In the process, you should not be disturbed. Ask your family to give you a couple of quiet hours, close the door, and don't get distracted.
  • The place of work should be well lit. Doing something with your hands under the light of a dim light bulb is not only harmful to your eyes, but also simply inconvenient.
  • Everything should be in place. This is important when working with sharp objects. When you have finished cutting plywood or a metal sheet, put the jigsaw or knife in a conspicuous place, where you will not lose it. Otherwise, you could get hurt.

The simplest: a key holder made of cardboard

Cardboard is the simplest material from which you can make a housekeeper. You will need:

  • sheets of thick cardboard - the usual gray color, can be found in the house, or you can buy a set;
  • a suitable drawing on photographic paper - you can print it in any stationery store, and choose your taste by searching the Internet;
  • decorative screws with beautiful caps, awl;
  • a piece of wire, brushes, varnish, glue, sponge.

The instructions for performing the work are simple:

  • cut out the desired figure from four sheets of cardboard - a circle, a square, a heart, it all depends on imagination;
  • with an awl, pierce two holes in the upper part of one blank figure - for a loop;
  • insert the wire into the holes, twist it so that it does not fall out;
  • on the side where the twisted wire remains, glue the rest of the blanks;
  • mark the screw holes on the front and pierce them with an awl.

At this point, the blank of the housekeeper itself is obtained. The rest is, in fact, decoration:

  • put the photo face down, moisten the sponge, wet the top layer, and then roll it up, lightly pressing;
  • dry the photo, grease it with glue with a brush and stick it on the workpiece;
  • cover everything together with varnish to achieve greater strength;
  • insert the screws.

The result is the simplest housekeeper. It is not very durable, it is afraid of moisture, it can tear if you pull it hard, but it's easy to make, the materials cost almost nothing and the result looks decent. Especially if you like bright lacquered drawings, and in the hallway you have a simple renovation, without designer frills.

Advice

Such a housekeeper is a good gift for older relatives. Grandmothers and grandfathers will be delighted to receive a little thing, in which a photo with the faces of their beloved relatives will be useful in the household.

Perfect eco-style: making from a branch

The branch as a key holder is fresh, original and fits perfectly into the eco-style. You can find it in the nearest park (you may have to spend several days), and it will not be difficult to issue it. Will need:

  • dry branch - a wet tree will quickly begin to rot, lose its appearance;
  • wood stain, jigsaw, drill, sandpaper, hooks (you can buy special ones in the store, you can use thick nails).

If you wish, you can place a varnished drawing above the branch that will complement it. You can hang beads, feathers and decorative keys on bright threads to it. You can carve anything into wood - from a few letters to the simplest design.

For connoisseurs of hard liquor from corks

It is good to make a key holder made of cork together with the children, because most of all this process is similar to trying to assemble a mosaic without a picture that shows the final result.

You will need:

  • photo frame - you can glue it yourself, or you can buy it;
  • about twenty wine bottle corks;
  • PVA glue - not a pencil, but in a jar;
  • nails with beautiful heads or hooks.

The rest requires only skill:

  • take the cork, spread it on the side and at the ends with glue, insert it inside the photo frame so that it adjoins the frame from the inside;
  • take the next cork, spread with glue, attach to the first.

The process is close to meditation: you need to fold the corks so that they ideally fill the space of the frame. The result should be left to dry overnight, then varnished and the key hooks inserted into the soft cork tree.

The advantage of such a housekeeper is its uniqueness. Just like two identical branches, there will not be two photo frames equally filled with corks. To give the design a chic, you can paint the corks different colors, burn out or cut letters on them.

A simpler option, more suitable for eco-style, is to find a thin stick and hang corks to it on bright threads. Drive a hook into each cork and hang the key on it.

Advice

A simple version with corks will only look appropriate in a minimalist interior or in a hallway full of fun accessories. In strict styles - in the same classics and hi-tech - he has no place.

Classic beauty: sawn timber

Despite the spectacular result, the process of making such a key holder is no more complicated than working with a tree branch. The only problem that you may face is the difficulty of finding a pine saw cut while living in the city. But you can either find a fallen tree branch and saw off a piece from it, or contact the village relatives.

You will need:

  • a round saw cut of a tree - a circle two to three centimeters thick, cut from the end of a log, and it is best that it be pine;
  • stain, sandpaper of different grain size, varnish;
  • wide brush, hooks, drill, screwdriver;
  • printout of the image previously mirrored.

All this is combined simply:

  • process sandpaper- first, medium grain size, then fine, and only along the fibers, otherwise ugly scratches will form;
  • moisten with water so that the wood swells slightly, leave to dry;
  • cover with a stain (preferably water-based, since it hardens longer and all mistakes can be corrected in the process) three times to get a beautiful bright color;
  • varnish the prepared printout, then cover the front side of the back with it, press the printout to it, smooth it gently so that there are no bubbles;
  • after the printout is dry (it will take two to three hours), moisten it with warm water, slowly remove it until the drawing appears - clean off the remaining white;
  • on the back side of the key holder with a drill drill holes for the hook on which it will hang, and on the front side - holes for the hooks on which the keys will hang.

The drawing can be any, the main thing is that it is black and white - it will be possible to convey the colors with the help of varnish, but they will not be as bright as on the original. You can do without it at all, then the hallway will be decorated with the noble texture of the treated wood.

Advice

A wooden saw cut will work well for classic interior. Good decision will also select its shade so that it matches the color of the furniture. As a last resort, you can brush over it with a dry acrylic paint brush to get the desired color.

Quality for decades - made of metal

Working with metal is difficult, especially if you've never done it before. But if you start with an ordinary wire housekeeper, it becomes clear that perseverance will overcome any difficulties. You will need:

  • thick wire - several millimeters in diameter;
  • sharp scissors - best for metal, but ordinary wire cutters will do;
  • pliers, hammer.

The manufacturing process is simple:

  • find an interesting outline drawing on the Internet - for a start, something simple, like an intricate spiral, square, circle, stylized cat;
  • try to repeat the drawing with a wire - bend it by clamping one end in pliers, and fixing the other with your free hand;
  • sharp corners can be obtained by pressing them with a hammer head; smooth lines are enough to curl with pliers;
  • when the figure is ready, hooks from the same wire must be attached to its lower part, and a thin wire must be fixed at the back, on which the entire structure can be hung.

An interesting variation on this same idea is the use of a coat hanger. It does not need to be bent with pliers and hammered. It is enough just to hang hooks on its lower part, and decorate the main part with anything, from gears of old watches to banal flowers made of colored paper.

A more difficult way to make a metal key holder is to use a thin sheet of metal, which can either be found in leftovers after repairs or purchased from a hobby store.

You will need:

  • thin metal sheet;
  • sharp scissors, nail, sketch drawing, hand drill, hooks;
  • a product that will make the metal hermetically sealed and prevent rust.

The pattern cannot be anything - only the one that can be cut out of metal. Silhouettes of animals, fish, plants, castles are best suited. Any fairly simple forms. You can show your imagination and come up with an abstract figure.

Before more will remain:

  • cut a silhouette from a sheet with a pattern;
  • attach the silhouette to a metal sheet, circle with the tip of a nail;
  • carefully cut along the contour, making sure that no ugly chipping remains;
  • bend sharp edges with a hammer that may turn out in the process;
  • drill holes for the hooks with a drill;
  • cover the resulting base with a sealing agent, let it dry;
  • insert the hooks into the holes, fasten the mount at the back.

It is better if the metal sheet is black, it will make it more stylish. You can, however, use shiny, polished options, but they tend to fade over time, losing all their chic look.

Advice

Do not use too thick metal, it will be difficult to cut. In addition, the nail on which it will hang may not withstand the weight.

It will be interesting to you:

Decoupage technique - we make from the frame

If you like simple pictures of flowers, birds, animals or landscapes, this method will also be to your taste. You will need:

  • frame from old picture or photographs - you can even glue it yourself;
  • a piece of plywood - always of good quality;
  • acrylic paints, varnish and primer, plus a wide brush;
  • sandpaper, decoupage drawing, file, stationery PVA;
  • hooks, drill, jigsaw.

The key holder technique is more complicated than the previous ones. You will have to not only glue, drill, use sandpaper, but also cut it out with a jigsaw.

The sequence looks like this:

  • measure the dimensions of the frame, cut the plywood with a jigsaw so that it coincides with them and can be inserted inside - you need to act carefully, otherwise it will crack;
  • drill holes in the plywood through which the self-tapping screws will enter, with which it will be fixed in the frame, cover it with acrylic primer and leave it for several hours;
  • sand plywood, first with medium grit with sandpaper, then with fine sandpaper;
  • put the decoupage drawing face down on the file, moisten the inside out with water;
  • grease the plywood with glue, attach a file, smooth it out so that no bubbles remain, carefully remove;
  • dilute acrylic paint, cover the frame with it so that it matches the color of the picture;
  • insert hooks into the holes drilled in the plywood, attach it to the frame;
  • varnish the result.

Instead of plywood, you can use thick paper or embroidered fabric. You can even leave the frame empty by attaching the hooks directly to it - this will also be beautiful in its own way.

Advice

It is important to ensure that the drawing fits the interior. For high-tech, birds with flowers will be alien; for a rustic style, the city of the future will also not be suitable.

Artistic cutting from plywood

The most difficult of the open key holders is perhaps this one. Plywood, which you might have left after renovation, in the form of a shelf from unnecessary furniture or a back wall from something, the material is cheap, but moody. If you work with it inaccurately, it can crack, after which it will not look as beautiful as we would like.

But you can give it any shape, cut out any silhouette or word from it.

You will need:

  • jigsaw, drill, spatula, wood putty, varnish;
  • key hooks, directly a piece of plywood.

You will also need a sketch. As with sheet metal, simple silhouettes work best: a cloud, a cat, a word, a flower, even an ordinary circle that can be turned into the moon. You can go further and make a double key holder: shape it, and then cut out the individual elements.

This idea can often be found: a housekeeper in the shape of a house, sawn separately elements in the form of human figures. Each has a key attached. When a person wants to take it, he takes out a figurine and leaves with it in his pocket. From the remaining voids, one can easily understand who is at home and who is not.

Regular hooks are an economical option

The technology, however, is the same:

  • take plywood, fix it well so that it does not slip;
  • start sawing, carefully removing a thin layer of plywood - the movements of the jigsaw should be directed in one direction, intensifying from beginning to end;
  • drill holes for hooks;
  • process the edges with sandpaper, if cracks turn out - seal them with putty;
  • cover the product with varnish, let it dry;
  • insert the hooks into the holes.

To make the housekeeper brighter, you can paint it in any color with acrylic paint before varnishing. You can put a drawing on it, you can cut out a simple pattern with a jigsaw. The main thing is that the result looks harmonious, fits the main interior.

Advice

The plywood key holder can go with any style. The question is, how do you arrange it.

Graceful simplicity: uncomplicated models

The cardboard housekeeper is simple, the design from the branch is also not complicated, but there are also simpler ones:

Cutlery... If you have unnecessary spoons and forks in your house, they can make excellent housekeepers. It is enough just to bend them so that you get hooks, and fix them on a wooden or plywood board using a drill and self-tapping screws. At the same time, the teeth of the forks can be beautifully bent, twisted with pliers in a spiral, or bent so that they resemble bent fingers. Spoons can be engraved, drilled or decorated in any other way.

Leather... Leather key holders are an excellent solution for those who like to sew rather than work with a jigsaw. It is enough to take a large piece of leather, give it a shape with the help of scissors (from an abstract spot to the silhouette of a cat or bird), and then either drive small carnations into it, or sew leather pockets to it. You can even sew bright threads so that they hang down, and provide the ends with small hooks. Embroidery, decoupage, ribbon bow, badges or buttons - all means will be good for decoration.

Lego is creative and interesting way diversify the interior

Wooden plank... It does not need to be cut with a jigsaw, like plywood, and treated with wood stain, like a saw cut. You just need to attach hooks bought in the nearest hardware store... For beauty, you can burn a drawing or a few words on a tree, cut out a simple pattern or apply a drawing - either guided solely by imagination, or by translating it with a carbon copy.

Clock... An old, non-working beautiful clock is a great base. They can be attached to a plank, drilled holes in it, and hooks fixed. Or you can use a watch without a tablet, if they are old by themselves and there is enough space on them to screw in the screws.

Thread... You need to drive nails into the board in random order, and then connect them with bright threads so that you get a semblance of a pattern. You can form it point by point, like a constellation, you can leave it abstract, just an interweaving of bright colors. Drive the hooks at the bottom, calmly hang the keys on them.

In addition to the shape, it is also important to correctly position the key holder. It should be about the same height as your chest for easy access. .

If there are children in the house, you need to either substitute a chair for them, or hang the structure below.

It should be placed so as not to interfere with anything, while close enough to the door so that a person, standing with their shoes on on the rug, can easily reach it. Do not put anything under the housekeeper, do not overload the hallway with accessories.

The key holder is an interesting and necessary detail home interior, which will help you keep the keys to your house, car and garage in sight. A thing really necessary for everyday life. It will decorate and complement the interior design, and also speaks of the delicate taste and stylish choice of the owner. The fixture is attached to the wall, stored on a table, or carried in your pocket. You can buy a key holder, but it's easier to make it yourself from old wooden boards, magnets, frames, seat belts and even old spoons and forks.

This fixture is made of a natural board with four metal bolts on it. The key holder is attached directly to the wall and is a great addition to any home interior. Her style combines two directions: rustic and modern. The board has not been specially treated to preserve its natural beauty.

The housekeeper looks original using an old picture frame. It is painted or decorated with flowers, ribbons or fabric - it all depends on the imagination of the master. Hooks are screwed along the inside of the top edge of the frame. Their number is determined by the size of the selected square and the number of sets of keys that need to be stored.

The next housekeeper was made from big key to which several hooks were attached. Such a device is semi-antique and has a universal color.

In the shape of small house the key holder is made of thin wood. Its inhabitants are two wooden figures, which are taken out together with the keys. The pediment of the house is decorated with a small heart, and the keychains are made in the form of a man and a woman. Figures of partners are connected in the evening when the keys are placed in the dwelling.

Ideal for lovers of minimalism and naturalism, a housekeeper in the form of a honeycomb. Five magnetic hooks keep your essentials in one convenient place. The wood has been sanded and treated with machine oil to emphasize its natural warmth.

The second version of a similar device has a cream shade in combination with golden magnetic hooks.

Do-it-yourself housekeeper ideas

1) What to do with silver cutlery that is not fit for food? They can be adapted to match original key hooks. To do this, take thin forks and spoons (3 pcs.), Acrylic paint, small wooden squares, glue and three brass triangular hooks.

  • The easiest way to bend a fork is to throw it into boiling water. After it softens a little, use the tongs to slightly bend the end of the handle upwards.
  • Wooden squares are covered with 1-2 coats of acrylic paint.
  • Glue the underside of the teeth to the wood.

Make sure the fork is straight and the amount of glue is moderate, otherwise the product will come out flawed.

  • On the seamy side of the squares, hooks are attached with which the housekeeper will hang on the wall.

2) During hikes and walks in the forest, you often come across natural materials that can be adapted for decor items. So, for example, the bark of a tree can become the basis for a housekeeper in the hallway. It is cleaned of excess, sanded and varnished or painted.

Pine saw cut key holder for a country house.

The shelf, giving pleasant memories of the rest by the sea, is made of sea driftwood. It is decorated with a pine cone, lace and beads.

3) Weaving from newspaper tubes is not an easy task, but the products are quite creative. There are not many consumables for such crafts - twisted tubes, stain and PVA glue. Anyone who is familiar with this technique can make a completely budgetary housekeeper.

Do-it-yourself housekeeper decoupage, photo

An original piece of furniture can be made from a wood cut with sandpaper and stained with a saw cut.

To create a uniform top layer, pass the stain at least 2-3 times. After each application of the liquid, the product is dried.

The tree is left in its natural color or a decoupage pattern is applied. The saw cut is first covered with acrylic varnish, and then the drawing is tightly applied (face down). After that, the product is dried for 2-3 hours. Before rolling the picture, the paper must be moistened. The procedure is performed until the whitish layer is completely cleansed and the pattern is clearly visible. Finally, the top of the housekeeper is covered with acrylic varnish.

Products in a romantic shabby chic style, when the surface is specially aged, look light and elegant.

The housekeeper is decorated with a rustic pattern using decoupage technique. It is based on plywood or thin board. Hooks are attached to each corner of the fixture.

  • The decorative wall key holder is installed in the entrance area, in a visible place. Its aesthetic characteristics are a must.
  • The direct loads from the keys themselves are not great. However, with intensive use, it is difficult to rely on very careful handling. Possible mechanical influences should be taken into account.
  • Resilience will come in handy decorative coatings to changes in humidity and temperature. The differences in these parameters are especially large in the hallways of private houses.
  • Ensure good visibility of all objects. Install if necessary.
  • In some cases, it is necessary to equip the structure with closing doors.

One glance is enough to check the location of objects in their places. An additional "plus" of this design is simplicity. Decoration choose individually. But a base with several hooks can be created in just a few tens of minutes. Of course, you will have to provide a suitable fixing system on the wall. But this task is not difficult to solve using ordinary screws with dowels, other standard ones.

They provide some protection against theft during visits by courier workers and other unauthorized people. For good view a glass insert is installed in the door. Inside if necessary

In this modification, the free space inside the door is used in a rational way. A mechanism was installed there that performs decorative and practical functions at the same time.

For your information! Such a project is not too difficult to implement on your own. You just need to buy a watch that matches the size of the product. It is better to choose an electromechanical or electronic model in order to reduce the operational burden on users.

To give the desired sizes and shapes, chisels are also used. An ideal flat surface is created using a planer, sandpaper. The interesting natural lines of the cuts are preserved with the use of clear varnish. If necessary, decoupage or other decorative coating techniques will be used.

In the example in the photo, you will need to find a birch log of a suitable size. After cutting and stripping the ends, hooks are screwed in from below. This completes the manufacturing process of the device.

This product is a suitable illustration of the disadvantages simple solutions and the material itself:

  • The primitive appearance imposes significant restrictions on the suitability of the interiors.
  • Without treatment, the log will become a source of contamination.
  • If the product is not treated with a deep primer, the structure will be quickly destroyed by changes in humidity and temperature.

Reliability and durability of metal wall key holders

Metal products are highly durable. They retain their functional characteristics over many years of use in excellent condition. Using special technologies, these materials are used to create parts of complex shapes. The only drawback is destruction by corrosive chemical reactions. To exclude such negative manifestations, apply different kinds decorative and protective coatings.

Metal is harder to handle than wood. For the manufacture of some products, you will have to master welding, casting, and other complex technologies. We'll have to equip the home workshop accordingly. Even without careful analysis, it is clear that the total investment will be significant.

What is good about a do-it-yourself plywood housekeeper

For the following reasons, this material is better than the options discussed above:

  • Plywood is created under factory conditions, therefore the thickness and other characteristics are precisely known.
  • By purchasing a moisture resistant variety, damage can be prevented by appropriate external influences.
  • The outer surfaces are quite smooth even without processing. They are well suited for imaging using a variety of techniques.
  • Unlike metal, plywood is not difficult to process.
  • Even large products from it weigh a little.

Important! When using plywood, take into account the relatively low hardness of the material. The attachment points for hooks and other additional parts may loosen over time. Also, one must not forget about the limited resistance of the tree to moisture and microorganisms. To protect against them, special impregnations are used.

You should also choose and master the application of beautiful persistent images in advance.

This material itself is inexpensive, but additional costs for production technologies will have to be taken into account. We must not forget about the limited resistance of the cardboard to mechanical stress, high humidity.

In this photo of the do-it-yourself housekeeper, only a container for small things is made from the box. The sturdy base and decorative overlays are made of plywood. Metal hooks with the desired aesthetic characteristics were purchased from a store.

Examples from other materials

These examples clearly demonstrate the wide possibilities when using different materials... Quite often, craftsmen use combined designs. When preparing an appropriate project, you should pay attention to the following general recommendations:

  • The load-bearing frame is calculated taking into account actual future loads.
  • The dimensions are chosen so as to exclude obstacles to the free movement of people.
  • All parts of the product must be designed for the respective operating conditions. If necessary, they are protected from adverse external influences.
  • In any case, it is necessary to consider the whole range of works. Some complex components (hooks, locks) can be purchased in the retail network, or ordered from a specialized workshop.
